Instructions
Combine Europa™, meat, and water. Let soak in refrigerator (preferably overnight) and serve. You can mix a four-day batch ahead of time and refrigerate in a sealed container or keep larger batches in the freezer. Shake bag occasionally to keep ingredients mixed. For adult and geriatric dogs we recommend once-a-day feeding. For puppies we recommend twice-a-day feeding. (For twice-a-day feeding, split the amounts below in half). Measurements are listed in cups.

Starting Out
It is crucial to switch your animal to Europa™ gradually. We recommend at least a two-week transition (4-6 weeks for older, ill, or finicky animals). Start with just a tiny bit of Europa™, raw meat, and water mixed with the food you’re currently using and gradually increase each day as you decrease your pet’s old food.
Adding Variety
We at Sojourner Farms® believe in feeding variety, and thus encourage adding veggies and other healthy foods to Europa, in addition to meat. For small animals mix in a teaspoon of chopped veggies per meal. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup or more for larger animals. Recommended vegetables include chopped greens, carrots, and other natural foods such as cooked rice, yogurt, or eggs. Avoid citrus fruits, onions, and spicy foods. Europa also works as a great supplement to our other dog food mixes!
For animals with special dietary needs, consult a holistic veterinarian. To find a holistic vet in your area, call the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association at (410) 569-0795.

Commonly Asked Questions & Helpful Tips
Q: Is homemade pet food expensive and hard to make?
A: No. Preparation can take a couple of minutes a day. The results are well worth the small time required. Europa has no fillers so it lasts much longer than other pet foods. When you consider the price per feeding, it's a great value.
Q: Can I feed Europa™ without adding meat?
A: This product is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. You must follow the feeding instructions and add the proper amount of meat for this food to be used for daily feeding.
Q: What if my dog has allergies?
A: Because Europa™ isn’t processed into a pellet or sprayed with synthetic additives (which can burden the body with toxicity), your pet shouldn’t experience allergic reactions like they might with traditional commercial pet foods.
Q: Will my dog gain or lose weight on Europa?
A: When feeding a raw diet your dog may lose a little fat, which is normal, and then over time gain it back in muscle. If you want to keep weight on, soak the mix overnight, or try using meat with a higher fat content. Avocados and alfalfa powder also promote weight gain. Leerburg does not recommend feeding avocados to dogs as they can be potentially toxic to dogs. For healthy ways to help your dog gain weight email Cindy our kennel manager at cindyr@leerburg.com.
Q: Is this food too soft to clean my dog’s teeth?
A: Dry dog food does not clean teeth. That would be like a person eating potato chips to clean their teeth. Your dog’s teeth are cleaned by a strong immune system and healthy, plaque-fighting saliva, which is the result of a healthy diet.
Q: Do I need to add a supplement to this food?
A: Unlike Europa™, traditional pet food is cooked, thus robbing it of naturally-occurring nutrients. Still, we encourage supplements to boost nutrition for sick, pregnant, or geriatric dogs, puppies, or even healthy dogs. Adding raw vegetables to our mix is a great way to provide natural supplementation.
Q: Can dogs really eat raw meat?
A: Your dog’s digestive system was designed to handle raw meat. After all, wild or zoo animals don’t eat cooked meat. We’ve been using raw meat for close to 20 years with fantastic results. Buy healthy selections of meat, always refrigerate or freeze, and follow recommended safe handling instructions on meat packaging. If you are still concerned, you can rinse meat in a solution of grapefruit seed extract or human-grade hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. If you prefer to cook the meat, add a general nutritional supplement or veggies to compensate for the nutrients lost to cooking. The important thing is to do what makes you feel comfortable.
