On July 23rd I finished the editing of the next Bewrnhard Flinks video - Preparing Your Dog for the Helper - the Foundation of Grip The DVD (it's only available in DVD) is 4 hours long. You can read a detailed outline for the video on the web page for it. In my opinion this is a better training video than Drive Focus and Grip. Maybe I say this because it's twice as long as any traiing video I have ever done (the wonder of DVD's vs VHS tape)
We are currently encoding the video and getting the titling done for the DVD- this process takes about a week. I hope to be shipiing DVD's a week from Monday or Teusday.

As I posted before, with my second dog I'm doing all the basic tug/bite work myself (several times a day) rather than relying on a club helper doing it 10 minutes per week.
I took my young dog to a local sch trainer today for an evaluation just so he could look-see if the dog was reponding like she should and if there were any corrections I needed to make in the way I worked her. It's testimony to the DVD that he liked everything he saw...except that I needed to be more active, that the dog had more drive than I was tapping; I told him at my age that's all the active I can get . The dog weighs 58 lbs and while Bernard makes it look so easy to swing a dog around... me, I'm out of breath in two swings!
Anyway, he asked which video I was using and when I told him his reply was, "Lately I'm seeing everyone come in here using the same techniques, all based on Ed's video. Guess I should buy one so I can keep up with the customers!" (BTW, he's all for the teachings in that video. Better that the owner does it right with the help of a teaching video than an inexperienced helper mess up the basics.)

Thomas - thanks for asking. Today we stared work on a project that I hope board members will like. We are capturing ALL the old RAW video footage that I have taken over the past 26 years. This footage will eventually be put on a streaming web server and made available for trainers to watch whenever they wish.
We don’t have the details of how we will manage this program worked out yet - there will be some kind of a fee (I.e. $20 to $25 per month for unlimited access) I am guessing at these numbers because we don’t have a budget finished yet.
If there is enough demand to cover the expense we would hope to capture literally thousands of hours of raw unedited video footage. This will include the old shows from Germany from the 19890’s, the police K9 seminars I have filmed, the various Schutzhund seminars that I filmed over the past 26 years, the hundreds of hours of Flinks videos I have on file.
The server will be set up so that viewers can watch the video stream but not download or capture it.
Obviously the interest is there this will be a huge project so its going to take a long long time to complete. It will probably involve hiring a full time staff person to just capture and manage the project.
We are going to start by putting 4 or 5 hours of free video up so people can see if this is something they are interested in getting involved with. I am capturing and hour of a Bernhard Sturmmer seminar ( he used to be Riaswer helper many years ago – maybe he still is I don’t know) I filmed back in 1982. That’s some of the oldest VHS footage I have. We will also capture and hour of recent footage from a police K9 seminar with Kevin Sheldahl and an hour of Mondio Ring footage from the 1990’s.
When I say RAW footage I mean there will be no editing, no voice over. You get to see (and hear) exactly what was filmed from the time I turned the camera on to the time I turn it off.
My gut feel is that this is going to be something the experienced dog trainers will love because they can watch other trainers work and take from it what they wish. New dog trainers will still need the edited training information so they know what they are watching.
If this is something you may be interested in – drop us a note. We will determine how far we take this by the results of interest people show.
Send me a personal email if you are interested. We will probably have a separate forum on the board to just list new information on this project
