Seems like everyone is getting new pups now, I might as well introduce my own pup, Foss vom Schraderhaus, aka Robby (8 1/2 wk/o).

6wk/o

8.5 wk/o

I got him 5 days ago, and boy has it been fun and a huge pain. He came with two weeks left of finals, and I've done almost no studying, or sleeping. I'm now living in a family's downstairs apartment with a friend of mine until college is over (dorms won't allow pets), and I then can go home to a much more dog friendly environment. Let me tell you, its incredibly stressful, frustrating, and time consuming being a "single mom" without the right equipment to raise a pup.

Robby has been a great pup so far, amazing nerves. No reaction to noises (cars or busses driving by), curious about everything. Hopefully he's got the makings of a SchH dog. He doesn't have the drives yet that I'm used to/ hoping for... but Im sure they will develop with time and drive games. The poor thing has Coccidia, so I've been battleing diarrhia the whole time.

Its going to take a bit, though, to get used to the breed, having had border collies all my life.

I want to thank this forum for all the great info, and for indirectly talking me out of getting a showline pup . I'm sure I will be asking tons of questions in the future.

Cute pup, Michele!

You definitely have taken on quite the challenge with school and all but I'm sure it will pay off in the long run!

Let me know if you decide he's too much of a pain and I'll trade you my border collie for him! LOL

Show or working line, sometimes you just never know what you are going to get but at his age he still doesn't have a clue what is going on around him so drives and nerves still have time to show themselves. My dog is both Show/Work lines and has more ball drive than I care to deal with at times! Anyhow, good luck he's a beauty. Keep updating those pics!

Hi everyone, thanks for your kind words.

Karla,
I go home in 1 week. Can't wait to get him into a properly sized crate. The one he was shipped in is too big. Just trying to make due with lots of potty breaks.

Carol,
Yes, he was having diarrhea when I got him. Thought it was just from stress, and diet change. But after 4 days, and the Kaopectate, pumpkin, and plain yogurt didn't work, I decided to get him checked out. And sure enough, he has coccidia.

Robbin,
Hehehe, I think I'll keep Robby around a little bit longer, but thanks for the offer.

Hello Michele,

I have a new puppy also. Yes it's a lot of work and I don't know how you do it by yourself and in school! But he is adorable. Congratulations!
