hm... there could be lots of reasons. I'm guessing it's probably a newbie of some sort that had a dog named Mia and they just threw something on the name from the pedigree. I am basing this off of there being no information anywhere else about this dog, any placements, any website, and that this dog was born in 06'. One would presume if they were after profit they'd advertise this dog in someway beyond a pedigree listing. Is there any way to find out if the dog has limited or full registration short of wrestling it out of akc?

If I am reading the pedigree correctly, 3 of the grandparents are Leerburg dogs. Perhaps you can track this dog down by contacting the owners of those dogs.

Question: what would prevent a backyard breeder from starting to call all of the puppies a 'Leerburg' this or that ? Answer: only the vigilance of people trying to prevent the theft of a good kennel name ... I did not think that if you had one true "leerburg" dog in the dog's ancestry , that that gave you the perpetual right to call any progeny dog a "leerburg." the Mia Leerburg dog's ancestry did have some German named ancestors (Hauptdorf) so...
that being said , i did some internet research in Germany and found neither a legitimate 'Leerburg' GSD kennel, nor any town named Leerburg. i found no German GSD with a Leerburg dog name entered in the recent austrian/german entries in their national schutzhund competitions. my guess is that the Mia Leerburg kennel is somewhere here in the USA....

Hey Cindy,
this is the user name & email of the person who entered "Mia" on the pedigree database: primalfear45365
I found this by checking the change history. I would think that was the person who owns her. I would think it is a new owner who just pulled a name out of the pedigree for the dogs name, probably no harm was meant. They probably just didn't know any better. Good luck, I hope this helps.
I didn't know how to contact you privately so feel free to edit out the email address if you want.
