Our goal in creating this book is to introduce the sport to those who are unfamiliar with it and who may never have encountered Schutzhund dogs, their passionate owners, trainers and handlers, nor have ever attended a Schutzhund trial. We chose to create this book because dry prose summaries describing Schutzhund do not capture its beauty, the bond between handlers and their dogs, nor the hard work, challenges and rewards. We also hope that this collection of photographs will remind even those dedicated owners, handlers, trainers, helpers and judges who have devoted decades to the sport of their experiences and why they love, invest in and support Schutzhund."
