This arm has a reinforced, padded bite bar to facilitate working with younger dogs. This arm is durable, yet lightweight. You will not believe how comfortable this arm is compared to other agitation or bite arms used in the dog training world.

Leerburg's standard hard arm is designed to fit on the left arm for right-handed helpers. If you are left handed, and prefer to wear your hard arm on your right arm, please indicate this in the 'comments' section of your order before submitting.

The sleeve does not come with a sleeve cover which is sold separately (see below).

If you are new to protection training, this sleeve will NOT be used on dogs that are younger than 12 months old. Normally a dog has to be at least 12 months for his head and jaw to be big enough to go around this sleeve.

Our sleeve covers are made from imported jute. I discourage new trainers from buying sleeve covers made from anything other than jute. Over the years I have seen sleeve covers made from ballistic nylon to a whole host of other materials. The reasons various manufacturers came out with (and still come out with) these strong covers was to make them last longer. What they don't tell you is that this also creates situations where the dogs break teeth. The bottom line is that if they make it stronger, something has to give and in to many cases it has been the teeth of your dog.

So my advice is to change a sleeve once or twice a year and stay with what has been proven to work for the past 50 years. You can ask any person whose dog has a broken K-9 tooth if they would use these other style sleeve covers if they had it to do all over again. I doubt many would say "Yes, we would do it all again."

The sleeve cover may be stiff or too difficult to put on the first couple of times. If this happens put a plastic bag (like a Wal-mart bag) over the hard arm than slide the hard arm in the cover. This makes the the hard arm slide easier.
